THE PROJECT

IoTwins is an European project that will work to lower the barriers for the uptake of Industry 4.0 technologies to optimize processes and increase productivity, safety, resiliency, and environmental impact.

IoTwins approach is based on a technological platform allowing a simple and low-cost access to big data analytics functionality, AI services and edge cloud infrastructure for the delivery of digital twins in manufacturing and facility management sectors.

THE GOAL

IoTwins aims at building a reference architecture for the development and deployment of distributed and edge-enabled digital twins of production plants and processes. Digital Twins collect data from manufacturing, maintenance, operations, facilities and operating environments, and use them to create a model of each specific asset, system, or process.

IoTwins focuses on the innovation potential of a large set of industrial test-beds that use edge-enabled and cloud-based big data services. Testbeds are organized in three categories: manufacturing, management optimization of large-scale facilities and replicability/scale up of such solutions.

Manufacturing testbeds

4 industrial testbeds for predictive maintenance and production optimization

Facility Management Testbeds

3 testbeds for identification of criticalities, optimization techniques to provide efficient facility management plans, operation optimal schedules, and renovation/maintenance plans

Replicability Testbeds

5 testbeds for the in-the-field verification of the replicability, scalability, and standardization of the IoTwins approach, as well as the generation of new business models
