IoTwins to be presented during an online workshop organized by BDVA and ETP4HPC

BDVA in collaboration with ETP4HPC organises a session with several projects from the ICT11 call HPC, Big Data, IoT and AI future Industry-driven collaborative strategics topics.

This was originally planned for EuroHPC Summit week.

The integration of Big Data, AI, IoT, Cloud/Edge/Fog Computing and HPC technologies allows exploiting large volumes of data coming from diverse and heterogeneous data sources by deploying data processing and data analytics tasks along the Computing Continuum. This Continuum physically stretches from HPC- and cloud- data centres to intelligent sensors and actors at the edge. Complex, high dynamic workflows pass data through the Continuum, cyber-security measures form the ‘glue’ between the continuum elements. A very large set of use cases in science, the public sector and industry need a reliably and effectively working continuum for their implementation. A collaboration between the disciplines contributing to the Continuum is mandatory!

Several Large Scale Pilot actions are currently being developed in the context of the ICT-11-2018-2019 calls, which demonstrate the potential of these technologies in the implementation of industrial pilot test-beds. These pilots ad test-beds deal with data coming from different industrial and business domains, such as manufacturing, health and healthcare, Agrifood, Finance, and other business or public sector domains. Although the particular sectors covered by the pilots provide a diversity of challenges, there are many common difficulties that have to be overcome. This session aims to analyse in depth the challenges, limitations and longer term perspectives of these pilots as well as other existing relevant ongoing projects and activities in other programmes. Based on this analysis, the aim is to outline future research and innovation needs in terms of convergence and alignment of the basic technologies and their utilization in industry and specially SMEs.
