SMARTCOMP 2020 – IEEE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SMART COMPUTING

The International Conference on Smart Computing took place online last 14-17 of September

SMARTCOMP  is the premier IEEE conference on smart computing.

Smart computing is based on the synergistic combination of advances in Sensor-based technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber-Physical Systems, Edge cloud computing, Big Data analytics, Machine Learning, Cognitive Computing, and Artificial Intelligence.

SMARTCOMP 2020 was the 6th edition of the conference and has been held in the historical city of Bologna, Italy, hosted by the University of Bologna, the holdest University of the western world and IoTwins partner.

Frank Boissière, Policy Coordinator & Programme Officer, Internet of Things Unit, DG CONNECT, European Commission was invited to make the point concerning the lessons learnt coming from IoT pilot projects.

The presentation included the main achievements from the past 5 years of the European research and innovation programme Horizon 2020, highlighting the key role of Digital Innovation Hubs, hinting at future challenges and opportunities offered by the next European research program.
